It's bloody hot here--too hot to think clearly or accomplish anything. I need to cobble together some kind of swamp-cooler for the baking kitties.
I did, and I survived to tell the story. Now I'm trying to prove to myself that I deserved a better kitchen in the first place.

So what's this about kitchens?
The summer of 2004 (and then some) was, for me, consumed by the process of remodeling my kitchen and camping in my own house. This blog started its life trying to answer the question posed in my original subtitle:
Remodeling project stories are always told after the fact as comic horror stories. How would the story go if it were told contemporaneously?
Gradually it morphed into meditation on camping in a construction zone, and it is now an aimless celebration of life after construction.
The previous summer, instead of camping in my house, I went camping and canoeing with my parents in Montana, on the Wild and Scenic section of the Missouri River, of Lewis and Clark fame. Afterward Mom and I visited Glacier National Park.
